History

It’s okay being able to boast about a long history and a great tradition (which we do) but it doesn’t really count for much without being married to innovation and vision. We were pioneers in the Rhone Valley and have been working with some producers there for 80 years. But recently we were among the first to introduce wines from Japan and India to the UK. So whether it’s in packaging, marketing or winemaking, we work with some of the most innovative producers around.

A few dates:

1933 – Hallgarten is founded.

1972 – Hallgarten is purchased by the family-owned German-based WIV Group.

1985 – Construction of our current offices and bonded warehouse in Luton – close to M1/M25.

1996 – Hallgarten acquires Michael Druitt Vintners to provide a specialist service to hotels and restaurants in the London area.

2010 – Hallgarten Druitt purchases Novum Wines.
